No Frontiers
BusterMcT's great adventures often includes hosting special guest who
are interested in exploring the U.S.A. the rail way! One special
assignment included showing off Amtrak's best along a ten-day journey
from coast-to-coast.
Radio Telefís Éireann (RTE) is Ireland’s national and public
broadcaster. RTE dispatched Irish TV personality Kathryn Thomas to
the USA to film two episodes of
No Frontiers, an Irish TV travel magazine. I was more than happy
to host our Irish friends for a spectacular rail experience. This
journey spanned the nation capturing the sights, sounds and images from
the Brooklyn Bridge to our destination the Golden Gate Bridge.
The journey started out on the the "Pennsylvanian" that travels daily
between New York City and Pittsburgh. At Pittsburgh a connection was
made with the
Capitol Limited trains 29 and 30, to and from Cleveland, Toledo,
Chicago and intermediate points.
Once in Chicago you could feel the excitement in the air as we were only
hours away from boarding the famous
California Zephyr.
The Zephyr runs daily between Chicago and San Francisco, coursing
through the plains of Nebraska to Denver, across the Rockies to Salt
Lake City, and then through Reno and Sacramento into Emeryville/San
Francisco.
This excursion was capture in two episodes of No Frontiers. Take a
few minutes and explore Amtrak's America through the eyes of our Irish
friends.
